01 · The foundation

Core is a workflow engine, not a filing cabinet

Core is the layer that holds workflows, records, roles, permissions, statuses, approvals, scheduling, communication and operating context together. Jobs, quotes and invoices are not Core — they are business objects that run on it, and they are simply what a trade business calls its work.

That is why a different kind of work is possible on the same product. A workflow configuration does not add an engine; it decides what this one’s primitives are called and what they contain.

Motion reads the operating context at every layer — the state of the work, the evidence attached to it, the rules of this kind of work — and prepares what comes next. Specialised agents are not separate products or a fixed set; they are how one intelligence is pointed at an area of the business.

The second industry does not exist yet. Labour, printing and facilities above are the shape an industry layer takes, not products you could buy — naming an available industry that has not been built would be inventing a roadmap.

Some of what Motion will eventually do is marked as planned in the product’s own catalog, and none of that is described on this page as though you could use it tomorrow.
